Abstract:Short carbon fibers reinforced C/C-SiC composites were manufactured through warm pressing in-situ reaction processing.The effect of short carbon fibers dispersion on mechanical properties of the compo...Short carbon fibers reinforced C/C-SiC composites were manufactured through warm pressing in-situ reaction processing.The effect of short carbon fibers dispersion on mechanical properties of the composites was studied.The results show that the values of bending strength and compressive strength are 56.6 MPa and 89.3 MPa respectively for the C/C-SiC composite manufactured by dispersing short carbon fibers.The present composites with dispersed short carbon fibers have few porous among fibers and many interfaces between fibers and matrix.The failure module of bending is pseudo-ductile type with pulled-out fibers in the cross-section.The failure module of compression is brittle fracture with no pulled-out fibers.Finally,the mathematical model of the fiber-bundle suggested by LI V C can proves that fiber dispersing is in favor of improving mechanical properties of C/C-SiC composites.Read More
