Title: Characterizations of the Small Polygonal Liver Cell in Human Liver Cirrhosis and Tissues Surrounding Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Abstract: In order to investigate the characterizations of the small polygonal liver cell (SPLC) in cirrhotic liver tissues and the liver tissues surrounding the tumors, 60 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and 47 cases of liver cirrhosis (LC) were examined with immunocytochemistry method using antibodies against IGF Ⅱ and HBxAg.The results showed that HBxAg and IGF Ⅱ positive rates were 69 14% and 66 67% respectively on SPLC in pericancerous liver tissues and LC, the positive rate of IGF Ⅱ were 82 14% in HBxAg positive SPLC group but 32 00% in HBxAg negative SPLC group. The expression of IGF Ⅱ in HBxAg positive SPLC was greater than that in HBxAg negative SPLC (χ 2 test, P 0 05).The above findings suggest that SPLC might be a kind of stem like cells and there were closely relations between proliferation and differentiation of SPLC and regeneration hepatocytes and biliary tuctular cells.
