Abstract:A series of TDTMA+-pillared montmorillonite were prepared at different concentrations(0.2 CEC~2.5 CEC)of tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide(TDTMAB).Using X-ray powder diffraction(XRD)and theoretical ...A series of TDTMA+-pillared montmorillonite were prepared at different concentrations(0.2 CEC~2.5 CEC)of tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide(TDTMAB).Using X-ray powder diffraction(XRD)and theoretical size,arrangement models of TDTMA+ in the interlayer of montmorillonite have been studied.At the same time,the adsorptions of nitrobenzene on the organoclays have been studied.It shows that adsorption rate is affected by reacting time and initial concentration of nitrobenzene,whereas there are no closely relationship between pH and adsorption.Pillared montmorillonite has higher sorption capability than raw clay.And with the increase of the surgactant packing density within montmorillonite interlayer,the sorption efficiency of organoclays increase and the sorption mechanisms changed from adsorption to partition.Read More
