Title: Catalyzed Synthesis of β-Naphtyl Ethyl Ether by Microwave Irradiation with Aluminium Sulfate as Catalyst
Abstract: Applied aluminium sulfate as catalyst,β-naphtyl ethyl ether was synthesized through the reaction of β-naphthol and ethanol by microwave irradiation. The product was characterized by melt point and IR.The influences of reaction temperature, microwave irradiation time, the dosage of catalyst, and the ratio of reactants on the yield were studied. The main process parameters were optimized by orthogonal test. The optimized operation conditions were: reaction temperature 100 ℃,reaction time 15 min, mole ration of β-naphthol to ethanol 1∶5.5,and the dosage of catalyst 2.5 g.Under these conditions, the yield of β-naphtyl ethyl ether was above 70%.
