Title: Expression of bcr/abl Fusion Gene and Its Relationship with Immunophenotype in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
Abstract: Expression of bcr/abl fusion gene was detected in 48 cases of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and most of the cases were analyzed their immunophenotype and DNA ploidy hy flow cylometry. It was found that 25% of the cases expressed M-bcr/abl or m-bcr/abl fusion gene. More cases were m-bcr/abl fusion gene positive than that of M-bcr/abl. Most bcr/abl-positive samples expressed B-lineage markers. But some samples with T-lineage markers also positive for bcr/abl, even in one case who expressed only pure T markers. Our findings indicate that bcr/abl fusion gene was mainly expressed but not limited in B-lineage ALL, T-lineage ALL also expressed bcr/abl fusion genes.
