Title: Advances in the study of tumor suppressor genes Rb and P53
Abstract: Rb and P53 are both tumor suppressor genes. The full length of Rb is about 200kb, which is mapped on 13pl4.1 of chorosome 13. It codifies for a 105kD phosphorylation protein involved in the regulation of cell cycle and cell proliferation. The full length of P53 is 16 - 20Kb, which is mapped on 17p13.1 of chorosome 17. It codifies for a 53kD phosphorylation protein regulating cell growth through the regulation of CIPI gene. Mutation and deletion of Rb and P53 have been reported in many tumors, which indicates the close relationship between these genes and oncogenesis.
