Title: An analysis of regression after laser in situ keratomileusis for treatment of myopia
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the regression relevant reasons of laser in situ keratomileusis(LASIK)for treatment of myopia. Methods 798 eyes of 486 patients with myopia who received LASIK were studied. They were divided into 2 groups according to preoperative diopters(-1.25--6.25D in 492eyes,-6.25-20.00D in 306 eyes).the mean follow-up was 48 months, and the results of the postoperative visual acuity, refractive diopter, corneal thickness and the diameter of the ablation zone were statistically analyzed. Results Refraction number:group A after four years, the normal number of refraction of the eye(+0.50-0.75 D),441(89.63%),the rollback of refraction of the eye(+1.35±-0.35D),51(10.37%).In group B of the eyes of the normal number of refraction(+0.50-0.75 D),192,the rollback of refraction of the eye(+1.35±-0.35D),114.2 regression in the eyes of the average number of refraction, there were significant differences.Corneal thickness:group A after normal thickness of the cornea for 447.58±31.64 μm,rollback of the cornea thickness of 486.58±35.46 μm,the difference was significant.Group B in the normal thickness of the cornea for 436.57±25.54 μm,rollback of the cornea thickness of 441.38±24.53 μm,the difference was not significant.Cornea Laser Cutting area:a group of normal eyes cutting area diameter of 5.98±0.37 mm,the rollback of eyes cutting area diameter of 4.65±0.48 mm,the difference was significant group B of the normal diameter of eyes cutting areas 5.55±0.84 mm,the rollback of eyes cutting area diameter of 4.25±0.36 mm,the difference was significant. Conclusion In cases with small laser ablation diameter and the thin pre-operative corneal thickness of high myopia, the regression draws back easily after the surgery.
