Title: COMPARISON OF MITOCHONDRIAL CYTOCHROME B GENE FRAGMENTS AMONG SIX SPECIES OF LUTJANUS
Abstract: The DNA sequences of 425 bp mitochondrial cytochrome b of Lutjanus argentimaculatus, L. stellatus,L. erythropterus, L. sebae, L. russelli and L. decussatus were analyzed. The result indicated that there were 88 nucleotide sites substituted ((20.7)%). Pairwise distance of MEGA2.1 was used to compute the genetic distances among 6 species in Lutjanus. The substitutions (transition+transversion) among the six sequences ranged from 0.096 to 0.129, with an average of 0.109. The highest substitution occurred at L. argentimaculatus and L. erythropterus (0.129) and the lowest subsitution at L. erythropterus and L. sebae (0.096). The transition-transversion ratios of the sequence substitutions of 6 species in Lutjanus ranged from 1.095 to 3.594, with an average of 2.160.
