Title: A Leap-forward Economic Development between FDI and Southwest China——A panel analysis on the basis of the selective factor of FDI
Abstract: The relatively small amount of FDI is the causative factor and the outcome of,comparatively, the backwardness in the southwest China. To increase FDI in that area is of great significance for its leap-forward development. The present paper indicates that FDI has not brought about expected effectiveness in that area. Moreover, the result of the panel analysis on the basis of the selective factors of FDI has indicated that in terms of selective factors of FDI,the provinces in the southwest demonstrate no material difference, and that in terms of the regional level,FDI is characterized by obvious uncertainty and temporality. The potential advantages of labor cost have not been well taken.Yet on the provincial level,a number of factors such as labor cost, regional position, and infrastructures have exerted positive effects on FDI and the foreign capital is accumulated more than before. Finally, some advice is given to speed up the absorbing of FDI,based on the result of the analysis.
