Title: Interpersonal Function of English Present Tense
Abstract: This paper discusses the interpersonal function of the present tense of English at the angle of functional linguistics, that is to say, in English the present tense doesn抰 mean time, but mood. In English, if the and action state of verb form of present tense isn抰 happening now, but took place in the past or will take place in the future, its attribution of time of action and state is shown by other means——interpersonal function, not the category of tense of the action and state.
