Title: Effect of Carbon on Wear Resistance of Cold Roll of High Vanadium High Speed Steel
Abstract: The cold roll samples of high vanadium high speed steel with various carbon contents((1.58)~2.92%) were prepared using casting method at the constant 10 wt% V.The effect of carbon contents on the wear resistance was examined by applying the self made apparatus of WM-1 roll frets friction, and the wear resistant and wear mechanism were compared with those of high Cr casting iron. The results show that the wear resistance of high vanadium high speed steel with(2.58%) carbon is five times bigger than that of high chrome cast iron. The wear mechanism of both alloys are spalled by contact fatigue under high stress.
