Title: SURVEY ON PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC FILARIASIS IN LATE STAGE OF CONTROL PROGRAM IN SICHUAN PROVINCE
Abstract: During 1986-1996, the late stage of filariasis control program in Sichuan Province, a total of 49 504 bancroftian and 903 malayan chronic filariasis cases were accumulatively detected out in relevant endemic areas of Sichuan. Among the bancroftian cases, the chronic signs of hydrocele, chyluria, elephantiasis and mixed type accounted for 72.30%, 25.96%, 0.95% and 0.79 % respectively. In 25 years old age group, the cases with chronic signs revealed upward trend as the age increased. The course of most hydrocele and elephantiasis cases reached as long as 11-20 years while the morbidity rate of chyluria in female as significantly higher than in male and the course of most chyluria cases was 1-5 years. The results showed that the main sign of chronic cases newly detected in late stage of control program was chyluria while the occurrence of hydrocele and elephantiasis were basically controlled. Most of the elephantiasis of malayan filariasis cases were in 50-69 years old age group and in which the male was more than the female but no elephantiasis case was found under 19 years old. The course of most elephantiasis cases was over 21 years, it is showed that there are no newly elephantiasis occurred.
