Title: Common and Special Ethics -Rebuilding of Confucian ethics
Abstract: It will not do to overthrow ancient Confucianism while it is necessary to transfer it but rebuilding is essential. We cannot just make a simple comparison between Confucian ethics and Christian ethics and draw the conclusion that the former is common ethics while the latter is special ethics. In fact, Confucian ethics is both common and special ethics. By common ethics, it is shown by the ultimate principle that man and nature share merits, the universal principle of benevolence and the transcendental-ritual principle of trying benevolence before rites; by special ethics, it is shown by hierarchical ethics of each gets its due and each on its post in five ethical relations. Integrity of moral and post is that of common ethics and special ethics so such Confucian thought has metaphysical significance.
