Title: THE CYTOARCHITECTURE AND MORPHOLOGY OFTHE NUCLEUS OF THE AREAS PRETECTALIS IN PEKIN DUCK'S MESENCEPHALON
Abstract: The serial section of ten Pekin ducks' brains which were stained by Nissl method were used to observe the morphology and cytoarchitecture of the nucleus lentiformis mesencepholi(LM), nucleus spirifomis lateralis(SPL), nucleus spiriformis medialis(SPM), nucleus pretectalis(PT), Nucleus commissuralis posterior (nCP), which lie in the midbrain areas pretectalis. The results are that follow: 1.The LM of Pekin duck is main situated the mesencephalon and is contained in LMd and LMc, it is composed of medium sized cells. 2.SPL and SPM can not be divided clearly; 3.nCP of Pekin duck is equal to the nucleus commissuralis posterior dorsal, but the situation is different to chick. 4.PT of Pekin duck is similar to one of which was previously observed in the other bird.
