Title: The Professional Standards for Qualified Teacher Status and Requirements for Initial Teacher Training in the UK
Abstract: In June 2002,Office for Standards in Education(OFSTED) of the UK and Teacher Training Agency(TTA) published Professional Standards for Qualified Teacher Status and Requirements for Initial Teacher Training,aiming at enhancing the teacher's professional standards and improve the quality of education.The document can be divided into two sections:one is the Secretary of State's Standards,which the trainee teacher must meet before the award of Qualified Teacher's Status(QTS),the other covers the Requirements for Initial Teacher Training(ITT) provider and the person who entitles QTS.The paper,by introducing the details of the document,will give some reference for the new curriculum reform in basic education in China nowadays,which needs a group of qualified teachers and trends to propose new requirements for teacher's standards and teacher training.
