Title: Study on The Distribution of Maize Tassel Pollen and The Effective Pollinating Range
Abstract: The research showed that the output of pollen of single male tassel of the maize variety Dongnong 250 was 1.152×107grainms or 6.035 g weight, the equation of density per unit area of pollen should be an ellipse parabola surface, the area scattered by pollens in theory was 68.139 8 cm2; The area in which the female tassel could be pollinated with 100% was such a circular of 0.7 m radius, and the pollen density was 26 grain/cm2 in this limits. Besides, the area in which the female tassel could be pollinated with 90% ~ 99% was the circular of 0.7~1.7 m radius, and the pollen density was 23~26 grain/cm2 in this limits. These indicated that the pollen supplying was much more than the pollination need in cultivated colony, so the pollen was certainly a “stock” which scramble for photosynthesis produce with female tassel. So the 1/15~1/25 ratio of reserved male tassel could meet the need of pollination.
