The paper reviews the life of Chen Yuanlong, investigates the compiling situation, and Emperor Kangxi's influence on the system of the collection: rhyme prose taken as prior style and utility being the first. There appeared plenty of creations, collections and theoretical criticism of rhyme prose after this book, which all demonstrates the book's vital position in the history of literature development in Qing Dynasty.
