Title: The Characterization Factors of Abiotic Resource Depletion and Its Changes with Time in LCA
Abstract: The abiotic resource depletion is an important environmental problem concerned in life cycle assessment(LCA).Up to now,the characterization factors(CFs) of abiotic resource depletion adopted by many LCA practitioners are from Guinee. It is a noteworthy question that whether these CFs is still in effect or not.Based on the annual global resource production datum in recent years, the CFs of main abiotic resource depletion during 2004—2009 is calculated.Comparing CFs during 2004—2009 with that in 1995,it shows there are no pronounced changes except individual resources which have clear variations in annual production. It was found that the many results derived from case studies by using CFs from Guinee~ show strong stability, comparability and reliability with time.
