Abstract: This paper,based on the educational ideas,school-running mode,program development,teaching methods,curriculum system and practical training at Japan's Musashino Art University,discusses the similarities and differences between Chinese and Japanese fine arts education.Fine arts is not only a professional technology but also a discipline for personality fostering.The human pursuit of beauty is to meet the needs of aesthetic satisfaction.The speciality of fine arts education is a subject of cultivating aesthetic ability,which is built upon aesthetic education and is the starting point of cultivating creativity,defining social values,and developing collectivist concept and independent personality.Fine arts education can provide an uncommon opportunity for people to make diversified creations and inventions.It integrates human perceptibility and rationality and can reach the goal of pursuing true beauty and freedom.Therefore,fine arts education is of important necessity.
