Title: Synthesis and characterization of ternary graft copolymer of acrylic acid and acrylamide onto starch
Abstract: The ternary starch graft copolymers are synthesized by inverse emulsion polymerization with cassava starch, acrylic acid(AA) and acrylamide(AM) as raw material and potassium permanganate as the initiator. The effects of reaction temperature, concentrations of crosslinking agent and initiator, ratio of AA to AM and neutralization degree on water absorption are investigated. The results show that the influences of crosslinking agent and initiator, ratio of acrylic acid to acrylamide and neutralization degree on water absorption are predominant. The optimal condition is that, the concentrations of crosslinking agent and initiator are 1.2×10-3 kg·L-1 and 6×10-3kg·L-1,respectively,AA/AM=0.11,neutralization degree is 75%.
