Abstract:The mathematical model was established by finite element method and finite volume method numerical simulation to represent the extrusion process of a porthole die for large caliber aluminum tubes.Comp...The mathematical model was established by finite element method and finite volume method numerical simulation to represent the extrusion process of a porthole die for large caliber aluminum tubes.Comparison was made between the relative merits and applicability of two analogy methods.It is concluded that the finite volume method is more applicable to simulate the large variation extrusion process.The distribution of stress and strain,the flow law of metals during every period of extrusion process was given,which is helpful to the design of extrusion die for large size aluminum sections and the optimization of technological parameters.Read More
