Title: Preparation of a Starch Grafting Acrylamide Flocculant by Inverse Suspension Copolymerization and its Application in Water Treatment
Abstract: A starch grafting acrylamide flocculant was synthesized by inverse suspension copolymerization with cyclohexane as continuous phase,Span-60 as dispersing agent,Ceric ammonium nitrate/potassium persulfate(CAN/KPS) as complex initiation system. The factors affecting the monomer conversion ratio and starch grafting ratio, such as initiator quality, dispersing agent dosage, amounts of monomers, reaction time and reaction temperature were investigated. The obtained copolymers were used for flocculation experiment to high turbidity water. The optimal preparation condition was:starch quality 10 g,acrylamide quality 5 g,dispersing agent dosage 3 g,initiator dosage 0.3 g(CAN/KPS=0.5,the molar ratio),reaction temperature at 70 ℃ and reaction time for 2 h.The flocculation experiment indicated that these starch grafting flocculants had good flocculation effect to the high turbidity water.
