Title: Study on the stress reactions among surgery patients before anesthesia
Abstract: Objective To explore the level of stress among surgery patients before anesthesia by observing and describing the stress reactions during the waiting time in operating room before anesthesia.Method Sixty surgery patients were recruited in this study by convenient sampling method. The anxiety, blood pressure and heart rate were recorded one-day prior to the operation and ten minutes after they entered the operating room before anesthesia. Results ①The anxiety index before anesthesia was not related with the patients' sex, operation experience, anesthesia experience and allergy history(P0.05).②There were significant differences in the anxiety index, blood pressure and heart rate at the time of preoperative visit compared with the waiting time in the operating room before anesthesia(P0.01).③The anxiety index was significantly correlated with the physiological measures(P0.01).Conclusion The patients' stress level is higher during the waiting time in the operating room before anesthesia compared with the time of preoperative visit. The physiological index can reflect the level of anxiety clearly.
