Title: Effect of lamivudine treatment on chronic hepatitis B virus infection patients who had received other antiviral therapy
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the effect of lamivudine on the loss of serum HBV DNA,HBeAg/anti-HBe seroconversion,ALT and TBIL levels in chronic hepatitis B patients who were not nave.Method 27 patients with chronic HBV infection as defined by positive HBsAg,HBeAg and HBV DNA were enrolled into lamivudine group receiving lamivudine 100mg daily for 52 weeks. Results After 52 weeks treatment, the average levels of ALT and TBIL were lower than before treatment(52.7±26.5 vs.211.3±182.4U/L,P(0.01);19.7±21.1 vs.54.6±28.8μmol/L,P(0.01)).After 26 and 52 week treatments, normalization rates of biochemical parameters(ALT) were 63%(17/27) and 88.9%(24/27) and virological response rates(serum HBV DNA10~3copies/ml) were 51.9%(14/27) and 77.8%(21/27).HBeAg negative rates were 14.8%(4/27) and 29.6%(8/27).HBeAg/anti-HBe seroconversion were 3.7%(1/27) and 18.5%(5/27).During 26 weeks after the end of treatment,7 patients relapsed. There was few incidence of adverse event. Conclusion Sustained HBV replication suppression could be obtained from long-term treatment with lamivudine accompanied with good tolerance and safety.
