Abstract: Communication is a pervasive activity and plays an important role in all human contact.Non-verbal behavior,as one of communication tools,is an indispensable instrument to transmit messages and convey feelings,attitudes in communication.It has the function of repeating,negating,substituting,complementing,accenting and regulating.This paper talks about this topic from the cognitive perspective based on the relevance theory proposed by D.Sperber and D.Wilson.In the context of classroom,the teachers and the students understand and interpret the non-verbal behavior of each other based on relevance.
