Title: Expression and clinical significance of E-cadherin in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the expression of E-cadherin as well(E-cad)as its correlation with the invasion and metastasis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).Methods:The expression of E-cad in 76 cases of ESCC and 30 cases of normal esophageal squamous epithelia was detected by SP method of immunohistochemical staining, and its clinicopathological features were analyzed. Results:The abnormal expression rate of E-cad in ESCC and normal esophageal squamous epithelia was 59.21% and 6.67%,respectively(P0.01).The abnormal expression of E-cad was related to the depth of invasion, the degree of cell differentiation and lymph node metastasis(P0.05-P0.01).Conclusions:The expression of E-cad in ESCC is abnormal. And the abnormal expression rate is related to the depth of invasion, the degree of cell differentiation and lymph node metastasis.
