Title: Context and Philosophy of Dickinson's Poem 754
Abstract: Dickinson's poems are implicit, concise, and meaningful. However, because the meanings of his words are ambiguous, many of his poems have had more than one interpretation, which cause much confusion in interpretation.Through the analysis of Dickinson's Poem 754 from the angle of the relationship among context, language and philosophy,we can understand that the paradox in the last stanza,in fact, contains the philosophy of the relationship between man and gun,i.e.man can conquer the power of the gun. Thus, interpretation from the point of language and philosophy is a feasible way to reveal implicit meanings of Dickinson's poems.
