Title: Effects of Graded Replacement of Soybean Meal by Sunflower Seed Meal on Performance,Egg Quality, and Economic Profit of Rugao Chicken
Abstract: Sixty-four 28-week-old Rugao chickens were acclimated to the basal diet for 1 week. At day 1 of the experiment, chickens were randomly assigned to 4 groups. 4 replicates each group, each with 4 chickens. Soybean meal was allocated to the control group, while experimental diets which contained 8.26%,16.52% and 24.84% sunflower seeds diet by mass were allocated to the experimental groups respectively. Food and water were offered ad libitum for 6 weeks. The results showed that, no significant difference on the performance and egg quality was found among the 4 groups (P0.05). Within the experiment, the feed cost of 8.26%,16.52% and 24.84% sunflower seeds groups reduced by 1.025,1.31 and 2.439 RMB per bird, and the profit of 16.52% and 24.84% sunflower seeds groups increased by 0.531 and 1.737 RMB per bird. It was indicated that sunflower seeds diet was a well substitute, which could not influence the performance and egg quality of 28-week-old Rugao chickens, and in part, could increase the profit.
