Title: Observation on Anatomical Structure of Vegetative Organs of Thyme
Abstract: [Objective]The aim was to observe the anatomical structure of vegetative organs of thyme.[Method] The anatomical structures of vegetative organs of root, stem and leaf from thyme were observed under the optics microscope by applying paraffin section technique.[Result]Under the optics microscope, the secondary structures of thyme root from the outer to inner were periderm, phloem, vascular cambium, xylem and vascular ray.The secondary structures of thyme stem from the outer to inner were periderm, phloem, vascular cambium, xylem and pith. The pith which was composed of parenchyma cells located in the center of stem. The leaf was a typical bifacial leaf;each epidermis consisted of a row of closely-arranged irregular epidermic cells and the horny layers of the cells were thick;single-cell richomes were distributed on the epidermis. The mesophyll was very rich, the palisade tissue was composed of 2 layers of cylindrical cells and the spongy tissue was arranged loosely.[Conclusion]The research provided theoretical basis for the identification of thyme.
