Title: NEW SPECIES OF LISTRIODON FROM MIOCENE OF LANTIEN, SHENSI, CHINA
Abstract: Remains of Miocene Vertebrates were practically unknown from China before 1930. The discovery of a gigantic suid Listriodon (Pearson, 1927), which is essentially a Miocene form indicates the existence of deposits earlier than Pontian, but not confirmed to be Miocene. Following the discovery of the fossiliferous Shanwan formation in Shantung (Young, 1936) and Tungur formation in Inner Mongolia (Colbert, 1934) and a study on the Cenozoic geology of Shantung and Kansu (Young et Bien, 1936) (the Listriodon bed) the importance of the presence of Miocene strata in China becomes evident.
