Title: Electronically Controlled Throttle System Used for NO_x Emission Control of Lean Burn Spark Ignition Engine
Abstract: A set of electronically controlled throttle system for lean burn spark ignition engine was developed to control NO_x emission using NO_x storage reduction(NSR)catalyst. The output torque and power kept steady as the engine operated under brief rich cursions through control of spark advance angle and throttle opening. The NO_x emission control experiments were carried out on Toyota 8A sixteen-valve EFI spark ignition engine with NSR and three-way catalyst(TWC).The results show that the minimum value of the NO_x emission is 50×10~(-6) with the conversion efficiency of above 90% after catalysts. The NO_x concentration after catalysts keeps steady during the lean/rich modulation.
