Title: Research on Refining Properties of Al-Ti-B Master Alloys
Abstract: The refining efficiency of Al-Ti-B master alloys produced by three different salt addition sequences was investigated. The result indicates that the master alloys produced by three different salt addition sequences have similar microstructure, but the refining efficiency is different. The master alloy produced by pre-mixed salt have the best refining efficiency, and the master alloy produced by adding KBF4 first is worse in refining efficiency. In addition, the refining properties of master alloy produced by pre-mixed salt were investigated. The results indicate that the size of α-Al reduces at all time with the increase of additional quality of master alloy. The refining efficiency is better when the transmutative time witin 5 min. When the refining time is beyond 60 min, the fading phenomena occurred markedly; the temperature was ranging from 710℃ to 730℃, the grain refining performance of the master alloy is excellent.
