Title: The Comparative Analysis of “Local Government Competition”
Abstract: The quintessence of Western federalism theory is to boost local government competition and economic efficiency by endowing local governments with more responsibilities. However, the differences between Chinese and Western local governments in political regime, institutional environment and marketization level determine that they behave distinctly in terms of behavior of competition entities, means of competition, effects of competition, and governance and coordination. The comparative study will be of significance of reference to regulating the competition behavior of local governments in China.
