Title: Controlled study on schizophrenia treated with quetiapine combined with sulpiride
Abstract: Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of quetiapine combined with sulpiride in the treatment of schizophrenia.Method:Patients with schizophrenia who had few response to quetiapine were randomly divided into two groups. One group were treated with quetiapine combined with sulpiride, and the other group with sulpiride only. The treatment duration was 8 weeks. At the beginning and at the end of 2nd,4th,8th week, all the patients were evaluated with the positive and negative symptoms scale(PANSS) and the treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS) to assess the efficacy and side effects respectively. Results:The total score and factor scores of PANSS decreased significantly in both groups after 2~4 weeks treatments(P0.05 or P0.01).The effective rates were 73.1% in combined group and 64.2% in sulpiride group. There was no significant difference in the efficacy between two groups. Conclusion:Quetiapine combined with sulpiride is as effective as sulpiride in the treatment of schizophrenia with few response to quetiapine.
