Title: Simple Research into Chenliang's Minds on Utilitarianism
Abstract: Cheliang, a famous thinker of Nan Song Dynasty, was the outstanding person of Yong Kang School. His thought was not taken over from teachers and it didn't form a system. While his thought was characteristic of Utilitarianism. He maintained theory should be practical and can be used to guide the management of a society, opposed to talk in generalities. He thought intelligence could be classified to be useful as serving reality but not with fame and gain as standard. Undoubtedly, he seriously challenged orthodox Taoism at that time. Such ideas were all directed against the circumstances and they were endowed with status not to be ignored in Chinese ideological history. This passage analyzed Chenliang's minds on utilitarianism from his military thought and his debate against Zhuxi.
