Title: On Kandinsky's Painting Principles Based on the 20th Century Argument about Chinese Painting
Abstract: Russian painter Kandinsky is called founder of the modern abstract art in theory and practice. In the 20 th century, based on Kandinsky's concept of anti-realistic painting, several big arguments on the relationship between Chinese and western painting art took place, which is a good opportunity to reflect on traditional Chinese painting. Based on Kandinsky's concepts of Nature of Art, Tension of Art and Nationality of Art, it can be seen that under the impact of western painting art, contemporary Chinese painting tends to pay more attention to the form of painting rather than the spirit, while ignoring the essence of traditional Chinese paining which takes spirit as the most important part. From the aspect of art ontology, it is a pity for any national art which does not absorb essence from other arts and avoid its shortcomings.
