Title: Experimental Investigations of Forestry Waste Gasification in Fixed-bed Gasifier
Abstract: In the present paper, A small-scale downdraft gasifier is designed with the principle of biomass gasification. An experimental investigation of the gasifier is carried out using forestry residues as the feed materials. The effect of equivalence ratio on the gas composition, calorific value , gasification efficiency, gas production yield and charcoal production output is studied. The experimental results showed that forestry residues can be converted into fuel gases and charcoal stably ; The results also indicated that the optimal equivalence ratio is 0.30. Under this optimum operation condition, the gases content in fuel gas are as follows: CO-21.5%;H2-11.3%;CH4-2.74%;CO2-12.0%;O2-1.44%;N2-51.0%. The low calorific value and the system gasification efficiency are 4913kJ/m3 and 62.1%, respectively. In addition, gas production output: 112m3/h; charcoal production output: 15.6kg.
