Title: Synthesis of Isobutyl Isobutyrate with Solid Superacid SO_4~(2-)/SnO_2-CeO_2-kaolin as Catalyst
Abstract: Isobutyl isobutyrate was synthesized from isobutyric acid and isobutyl alcohol with solid superacid catalyst SO42-/SnO2-CeO2-kaolin.The catalyst was prepared under the conditions of mass ratio of ammonium ceric nitrate to kaolin to SnCl4·5H2O 1:9:20,concentration of sulfuric acid 2.0mol/L,impregnation time 12h,and calcination at 350℃ for 3h.The catalyst was characterized by Hammett indicator method and XRD.As using synthesis of isobutyl isobutyrate, the optimal conditions were:mass fraction of catalyst in all of reaction system 2.5%,mole ratio of isobutyl alcohol to isobutyric acid 1.4,reaction time 100min and toluene 10mL,the yield was 94.5%.The catalyst also has excellent stability. When it was reused for six times, the yield could be greater than 80%.The catalyst takes advantages of low cost, highly active,non-polluting and reusable.
