Title: Analysis of the clincal characteristics of increased fasting glucose and increased postchallenge glucose
Abstract: Objective To campare the clincal characteristcs of increased fasting glucose and increased postchallenge glucose. Methods A cross-sectional analysis of glucose and lipid metabolism was conducted in Chongqing adults aged 21 to 89 years. According to fasting plasma glucose(FPG) and 2h plasma glucose(2hPG),the subjects were divided into 7 groups: normal glucose tolerance(NGT), isolated impaired fasting glucose(iIFG), isolated impaired glucose tolerance(iIGT),combined IFG and IGT(IFG/IGT),isolated fasting hyperglycemia (IFH) ,isolated postchallenge hyperglycemia (IPH), combined IFH and IPH (IFH/IPH).The prevalence and metabolic features of the above subcategories were analyzed. Results iIGT was the most common subsection in the impaired glucose regulation (IGR) group (61.4%),and IPH was the most common subsection in the diabetes patients ( 60.5 %).With the increasing of age, the frequencies of NGT, iIFG, iIGT, IFG/IGT, IPH, IFH/IPH increased. Compared with iIFG and iIGT groups, IFG/IGT group had higher systolic pressure, more serious dyslipidemia. While iIFG and iIGT had identical metabolic characteristcs. In diabetic patients, compared with IPH group, fasting hyperglycemia(FH)had more serious metabolism disorder. Conclusion iIGT and IPH are the most common subsections in the IGR group and DM group respectively. The test of OGTT is help ful to screen IGT and IPH.
