Title: Study on Denitrifying Phosphorus Removal by Granular Sludge
Abstract: Inoculated with enriched activated sludge,in which denitrifying phosphorus-accumulating organisms were predominant, granular sludge was cultivated under anaerobic/aerobic/anoxic modes in a sequencing batch reactor(SBR).Granules were observed after operation for 35 days.Nitrogen and phosphorus removal efficiencies of the granular sludge system were investigated. The results show that:① During the operation with anaerobic/anoxic modes, the system has an effective denitrifying phosphorus removal efficiency. After anoxic period, the phosphorus removal efficiency exceeds 96% and NH+4-N removal efficiency is about 95%;② The rate of denitrifying phosphorus uptake is affected by the concentration of nitrate in anoxic phase;③ DNPAOs in the granular sludge can use internal carbon source for denitrifying phosphorus uptake, which enables simultaneous phosphorus and nitrogen removal.
