Title: Expression of VEGF in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer and its Clinical Significance
Abstract: [Purpose] To investigate the expression and the clinical significance of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).[Methods] The expression of VEGF in 30 cases of NSCLC tissue and 25 cases of adjacent non-cancerous tissue was detected by immunohistochemical S-P method.[Results] The positive rate of VEGF was 70.00% in NSCLC tissues and 20.00% in adjacent non-cancerous tissues(χ2=11.745,P=0.001);VEGF positive rate was not significantly different in adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and large cell lung cancer. The positive rates of VEGF in stage Ⅲ~Ⅳ(88.24%) was significant higher than that in stageⅠ~Ⅱ(46.15%)(χ2=4.37,P=0.037).The positive rate of VEGF in patients with positive lymph node was 78.26%,and 42.86% in patients with negative lymph node, with significant difference(χ2= 5.06,P=0.024).[Conclusion] The high expression of VEGF in NSCLC tissues is present, with positive correlation with lymph node metastasis and TNM staging, but not with the histological type.
