Title: Rooting Characteristics of Green-wood Cuttings of Staphylea bumalda
Abstract: Staphylea bumalda is a rare woody oil tree species, which is also used as an edible and landscape tree in China. The soft branches were used to study rooting ability of green-wood cuttings. The effects of cutting types, kinds and treatment time of hormone, medium kind and the interaction between hormone kind and treatment time on rooting were studied by the orthogonal experiment design. The results showed that the best combination was A2B4C1D2 or A4B4C1D2.Cuttings were optimal in lower or higher crown with part leaves. They are treated by NAA in concentration of 100 mg/kg for 2 minutes and then cut into compound medium of vermiculite and perlite with a ratio of 1∶1 in volume. It was easy to root for green-wood cuttings at the maximal rooting rate of 96.25%.However rooting was not inevitably related to callus as an integrative rooting type.
