Title: Comparison on calculation methods for load bearing capacity of reinforced concrete members in codes of various countries
Abstract: For further research on the load bearing capacity calculation of eccentrically compressed reinforced concrete members,Code for Design of Concrete Structure(GB50010-2010),Code for Design of Concrete Structure(GB50010-2002) and Code for Design of Highway Reinforced Concrete and Prestressed Concrete Bridges and Culverts(JTG D62-2004) are adopted to calculate the collected experimental data in documents.It was found that the maximum deviation between the test results and the calculated values is greater than twenty percent.Chinese code and Eurocode 2:Design of Concrete Structures(EN 1992-1-1:2004) as well as Building Code Requirements For Structural Concrete(ACI 318-05) are adopted for further calculation.It was shown that the calculated results are very different from one another.Moreover,the codes from different countries are diverse in the identification of effective length for the members.It is suggested that in-depth studies should be carried out for the load bearing capacity of the eccentrically loaded reinforced concrete members.
