Title: Catalytic synthesis of cyclohexyl acetate by N-methyl pyrrolidone hydrosulfate
Abstract: The esterification of cyclohexanol and acetic acid with N-methyl pyrrolidone hydrosulfate as catalyst and cyclohexane as azeotropic water stripping agent was studied. The effects of different factors such as the dosage of catalyst, reaction temperature, reaction time, molar ratio of acid to alcohol and the water stripping agent were investigated. The results showed that N-methyl pyrrolidone hydrosulfate exhibits excellent catalytic activity. When the dosage of catalyst based on alcohol is 1%,the molar ratio of acetic acid to cyclohexanol is 1.4∶1,the dosage of cyclohexane is 10 mL,the reaction temperature is 125 ℃(of oil bath) for 2 h,the yield of cyclohexyl acetate is higher than 90%.The catalyst can be reused for six times without significant yield declining.Corrosion test showed that the corrosion rate of stainless steel in N-methyl pyrrolidone hydrosulfate is 0.015 2 g·m-2·h-1.
