Title: Seismic performance analysis of reinforced concrete frame with hanging precast concrete infill walls
Abstract: This paper compares the seismic performance of pure reinforced concrete frame, frame with hanging connection and frame using ordinary masonry infill walls. The response spectrum analysis and time history analysis were performed in ABAQUS. The base shear, the story displacement, the story drift ratio and the location of maximum stress in the response spectrum analysis and time history analysis were discussed. The analyses show that the frame with hanging connection has the better seismic performance than the frame using ordinary masonry infill walls and the damage of the precast concrete infill walls is less than that of the ordinary masonry infill walls. The analyses also indicate that the infill wall's influence on the frame structure is significant. Unreasonable arrangement of infill walls easily leads to the weak layer of the frame structure, which is very adverse to the seismic performance of the frame. So the effect of infill walls should be fully considered in the design of frame structures.
