Title: Protection of Herb-partitioned Moxibustion on Bone Mmarrow Suppression of Gastric Cancer Patients in Chemotherapy Period
Abstract: Objective: To investigate the protection of herb-partitioned moxibustion on bone marrow suppression of patients with gastric cancer in chemotherapy period. Methods: Totally 72 gastric patients were randomized into the treatment group( 35 cases) and control group( 37 cases). Both groups were given SOX chemotherapy. The patients in the treatment group were given herb-partitioned moxibustion at the same time with the chemotherapy beginning, for 14 days and following a latency of 7 days. One treatment course lasted for 21 days. Bone marrow suppression and associated symptoms and Karnofsky score( KFS) were observed after two treatment courses. Results: The WBC count level in the treatment group on 3rd and 7th was higher than that in control group( P 0. 05 or P 0. 01). NEUT count level in the treatment group on 7th was higher than that in control group( P 0. 05 or P 0. 01). There was a rise trend on 14 th in the two groups, and the WBC count level in the treatment group was higher than that in control group( P 0. 05). Compared with the control group, the bone marrow suppression degree decreased significantly in the treatment group on the 3rd,7th and14 th day of chemotherapy( P 0. 05),and compared with the 3rd day,the bone marrow suppression degree decreased significantly on 14 th day in the treatment group. Comparing with the control group, the fatigue, dizziness and poor appetite were significantly relieved in the treatment group on the 14 th day of chemotherapy( P 0. 01 or P 0. 05). The scores of KPS in the treatment group were superior to those in the control group( P 0. 05),and the score was increased with 13cases in treatment group compared with 3 cases in control group. Conclusion Herb-partitioned moxibustion is effective in inhibiting bone marrow suppression, relieving clinical symptoms and improving quality of life.
