Title: GC-MS Analysis of the Essential Oils from Fresh and Dry Leaves of Peristrophe baphica
Abstract: The essential oils obtained by hydrodistillation from the fresh and dried leaves of Peristrophe baphica, were analyzed by means of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS).A total of 51 volatile components were identified on the basis of their mass spectra characteristics.Thirty-two compounds were identified in the oils of fresh leaves, accounting for 98.81% of the total oils.Among those thirty-two compounds,trans-phytol(43.29%),nerolidol(7.07%),caryophyllene(4.91%),methyl linolenate(3.81%) and phytone(3.74%) were the major ones.Forty-two compounds, representing 96.23% of the total oils, were identified in the dried leaves oils.trans-Phytol(33.50%),nerolidol(7.75%),1-octen-3-ol(7.20%),caryophyllene(5.14%),phytone(4.45%)and camphor(4.07%) were the major compounds. The chemical composition analysis of the essential oils shows that there are only 23 common compounds in the two kinds of essential oils, while the two kinds of oils differ in other chemical constituents and their relative content.
