Title: Evaluation on ecological adaptability of cool-season forage grass in Jiangsu
Abstract: Nineteen cool-season forage grass cultivars were introduced from Oregon,USA to Jiangsu, China. Ecological adaptability was evaluated in southern (Nanjing) and northern (Xuzhou) Jiangsu. It was shown that annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum) and intermediate ryegrass( Lolium hybridum) had the highest yield with a spring peak. Especially, tetraploid cultivars had the highest fresh grass yield. Although the yields of Perennial ryegrass ( Lolium perenne) cultivars were high, they could not survive the summer in southern Jiangsu. Orchardgrass(Dactylis glomerata) and tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea) could be oversummer well in Jiangsu province.
