Title: Buddhism and the Dragon Culture of the Bai People
Abstract: The customs of dragon worship of the Bai people can be traced back to ancient times. After the introduction of Buddhism into Yunnan, dragon culture of the Bai people gradually developed into two parts: dragon god worship and dragon Benzu worship. The Buddhist dragon culture, fit to the primitive idea of water god in the core of the Bai’s dragon culture, was not only accepted by the Bai people but exerted certain influences on the Bai’s dragon god worship and dragon Benzu worship. In this sense, the Bai’s dragon culture became more systematic.
