Title: Effect of Acupoint Catgut Embedment Therapy on Gastric Mucosa of Rats with Chronic Atrophic Gastritis
Abstract: Objective To observe the effect of acupoint catgut embedment(ACE) therapy on gastric mucosa of rats with chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG).Methods Ninety rats were randomly divided into blank group, model group,ACE group and acupuncture group.CAG rat model was established by feeding with 20mmol/L sodium deoxycholate,0.5 ~ 1.0 g/L ammonia solution,0.5 g/L indomethacin and 40% alcohol.ACE group received catgut embedement application on acupoints of Zusanli(ST36),Zhongwan(CV12) and Weishu(BL21) once every two weeks, and acupuncture group received acupuncture on the same acupoints as those of ACE group once per day.The treatment lasted 12 weeks. After treatment, body weight, volume of gastric juice, free acid of gastric juice, total acidity and the total output of acid in rats of different groups were observed.Meanwhile, the pathological features of gastric mucosa in four groups were observed under light microscope. Results After treatment, the body weight of blank group, acupuncture group and ACE group differed from that in the model group(P 0.05).The volume of gastric juice, acidity of free gastric juice acid, total acidity and the total output of acid in rats of blank group, acupuncture group and ACE group were higher than those in the model group(P 0.05).The pathological features of gastric mucosa were improved in ACE group and acupuncture group. Conclusion ACE shows certain therapeutic effect for the treatment of CAG,and the therapeutic mechanism is probably related with the promotion of gastric juice and with the improvement of pathological features of gastric mucosa.
